Do you make house calls for reptiles anywhere in Houston?
Yes. The base service area is Greater Houston. For homes outside that area, Dr. Lewis will travel farther for an added travel fee, quoted up front before anything is scheduled.
When do house-call visits happen?
Scale & Fin is an appointment-based house-call practice, and visits run primarily after hours. If your reptile is declining, call or text (832) 987-3469 and you will get a straight answer on the fastest option.
Which reptiles do you treat?
Bearded dragons, ball pythons, boas, corn, milk and hognose snakes, turtles and tortoises, geckos, iguanas, tegus, water monitors, and most chameleons. Lizards have a dedicated page: lizard vet in Houston.
Why examine a reptile at home instead of a clinic?
Two reasons. Transport is a real stressor — a reptile pulled out of its heat gradient arrives cold, stressed, and showing different signs than it did at home. And the habitat is usually part of the diagnosis — basking temperatures, UVB age, humidity, and substrate get checked in place during the same visit.
What does a reptile house call cost?
Standard visits are on the pricing page: sick reptile or enclosure evaluation $375 prepaid in the Houston area. Travel outside Houston is $25–$100. Call or text (832) 987-3469 if your visit does not match those. See https://scalefinveterinary.com/pricing/.
How do I request a visit?
Use the request form on the Scale & Fin homepage, or call or text (832) 987-3469 with the species and what you are seeing. A photo of the animal and its enclosure genuinely speeds this up.
